Developing wrinkles is a beautiful and natural ageing process regardless of your skin care routine. Wrinkling simply occurs as we age because the fat pads and connective tissue under the skin's surface decrease and disintegrate. It is in no way unhealthy! At CIMED Cosmetic Medicine, we use anti-wrinkle procedures to relax the muscles and prevent further sagging and lines from forming in the skin.

While it’s important to remember that wrinkling is a perfectly natural process, it’s completely normal to want this treatment for a variety of reasons.
As we age, the natural components of our skin decrease and the loss of elasticity and hydration causes the skin to sag. Small muscle contractions during normal and natural facial expressions cause wrinkles in the skin.
Common areas for wrinkles to form are the outside corners of the eyes (crow's feet), frown lines on the forehead and frown lines between the eyebrows. Wrinkles can also form on the neck from the contraction of neck muscles.
Anti-wrinkle treatments relax the muscles and soften wrinkles. The effects are apparent after 2 to 3 days, settle 6 days after the procedure and usually last for 3 to 4 months.
Anti wrinkle treatments can be used in the masseter muscles to treat teeth grinding. The masseter muscles are used for chewing and can enlarge from overuse due to the constant grinding of teeth.
The anti-wrinkle treatments into the muscle help to alleviate teeth grinding and can also have the pleasant aesthetic effect of slimming down the face.
Following the procedure, the effect takes about 6 weeks to develop and lasts about 6 to 9 months.
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can occur in the armpits and on the palms of the hands and feet. Anti wrinkle treatments can be administered to temporarily paralyse the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. The sweating is reduced to normal levels and the use of antiperspirants is not needed.
Following the procedure, the effects can last from 6 to 8 months.
Treatments can be uncomfortable in sensitive areas and depending on client sensitivities. However, if required, numbing cream is applied before treatments and ice is applied to the area. CIMED Cosmetic Medicine uses ultra-thin needles similar to those used in acupuncture and treatment techniques have been developed for minimal discomfort.
The treatments into the skin can result in minimal swelling, as this is the body’s natural response. Mild swelling can last a few hours and is usually resolved within a few days.
When a needle is inserted into the skin, there is always a chance that a blood vessel may be punctured, resulting in blood spreading out under the skin. The body naturally responds by putting a “cork” into a punctured vessel and the area of the bruising is very small. Such bruises usually clear after a few days. At CIMED Cosmetic Medicine, we practice techniques to avoid bruising post-treatment and punctured blood vessels are very rare.
At CIMED Cosmetic Medicine, our techniques and procedures are tailored to deliver natural-looking results. We specialise in cosmetic treatments and ensure that the correct products are used to achieve subtle changes and the best results tailored to each individual patient.
There is no specific age at which people should start cosmetic treatments and every person is assessed individually. Younger people can use the treatments to enhance natural features and prevent wrinkles and skin folds from forming. Older patients can use the treatments to restore lost volume, reduce wrinkles and skin folds and enhance sagging features.
